The Trust

Wentworth Woodhouse is owned and operated by Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust (WWPT).

Wentworth Woodhouse is arguably the most challenging and exciting regeneration project of our generation. Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust is committed to delivering high quality, creative and relevant visitor experiences and an empowered and connected workforce. We serve the following purposes:

  1. To preserve the house and grounds on a long term sustainable basis with extensive public opening;
  2. To find sustainable and sympathetic uses for those parts of the property not open to the public;
  3. To raise funds both for acquisition and repairs and other essential works.

The Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust is a charitable company limited by guarantee and has been established to secure a long-term future for Wentworth Woodhouse.

The WWPT charity number is 1155374 and the company number is 08809187.

Volunteering

Wentworth Woodhouse simply could not survive without the work of our dedicated team of volunteers who give their time across a variety of roles.

People volunteer with us for many reasons – most often as a way of giving something back to the community – and the satisfaction around knowing they have contributed towards the house and its preservation for future generations.

We are not currently recruiting any volunteers, please check back regularly for any opportunities.

Partnerships and Funding

Working with the National Trust

The partnership between the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust and the National Trust (NT) continues to flourish with NT members receiving a 50% discount on entry.

We receive grant aid provided by NT which we use to create new posts and pay salaries. Today there are nine employees at the site who are fully supported by the support we receive from the NT. The input from NT has not just been limited to financial support. On-going expert advice from NT on visitor experience approaches (most particularly in the context of the new roof top tours); interpretation and signage; and procurement has proved extremely valuable to WWPT and has helped to really facilitate knowledge exchange. This was highlighted during the partnership day held at Wentworth for National Trust General Managers and regional staff.
